These stories are set in magical places and characters have magical powers or supernatural characteristics. These stories have an element of adventure and suspense. Here are the subgenres that will be included in this section: 1. Urban fantasy - Stories in this subgenre take place in the city. Teens usually live in boarding schools and they discover they have supernatural abilities. 2. Paranormal fiction - Characters are paranormal creatures like vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, angels, ext. These stories tend to be dark. 3. Magical realism - A genre that originated in Latin America, this type of story is set in a realistic setting but there are fantasitcal elements in the story. Because they are not completely realistic, they are placed under the general section of fantasy. If you like stories about vampires, werewolves, wizards and the likes, this genre is for you.
