Natasha and her family are hours away from being deported to Jamaica and she will do all she can to find a way to stay in New York. This genre encompasses stories in which characters go through real-life situations. Many explore themes of identity, coming of age, relationships and love. The stories might have some love story elements but they are not the focus on the story. Here we also include novels from the Realism and Naturalism literary movements. The subgenre that will fall into this section are: 1. Coming of age fiction (Bildungsroman) - Stories about teens facing a situation that takes them through a journey that will help them mature. Most of the time the protragonist goes through a painful experience that takes way his/her innocence. Innocence is then replaced by a realistic perspective. 2. School stories - These are YA fcition that revolve around a school setting and the plot is related to situation that happen in school, and involve classmates. 3. Psychological fiction - Stories that fall under this subgenre focus on the thoughts and emotions the character is feeling, rather then focusing on what is actually happening (action). The focus is on how the character percevices the events and people surrounding him/her. 4. Travelogue fiction - Stories that focus on the protagonist's travels falls into this subgenre. 5. Tragedy - Stories with a tragic ending that are based on real-life situations fall into this subgenre. Novels by Sarah Dessen, John Green, Rainbow Rowell, and classics like The Outsiders fall into this category.
