Stories that focus on the interaction or relationship between people. The plot revolves around the love these characters have for each other. There are stories that blend different genres that revolve around love stories. Romantic stories can have elements from all the genres that we have posted on.
Here are some subgenres that fall into this category: 1. Paranormal romance - Love story with paranormal characters. 2. Historical romance - Love stories set in a historical period. 3. Time travel romance - Love stories set on the time-travel or dual reality plot. Here are new books we have acquired that fall in this genre: Stories under this genre are about protagonists that are facing dangerous situations constantly and they have to solve problems by using their skills, and reasoning. These stories are usually about a quest. Some of the subgenre under this section are: 1. Alternative history - These stories' plot centers on time-traveling or dual realities plot. 2. Survival stories - Protagonists go through a series of events that they need to overcome in order to remain alive. 3. Quests - Protagonists are sent on a journey to find someone or something. Some of the titles we have available under this genre are: These are two different genres but are placed together because they share some characteristics. Mystery fiction revolves around a crime or mystery that needs to be solved. The protagonist solves the puzzle by putting the clues together. Thrillers are fast-paced and focus on the war against a villan. The protagonist is out there to save the world. Both genres share the elements of suspense and the idea of saving the day by fighting against evil. Subgenre that falls under this section are: 1. Detective fiction - These stories focus on the investigation of a crime. If you like Sherlock Holmes stories, you will like the books housed under this genre. These are the new titles we acquired that fall into this genre: This is a very popular genre in our school. But what is sci-fi? Well, stories under this category deal with technology and its impact in society. The things that happen in the novel could become real if advances in technology make it possible. Science fiction has many sub-genres. Here are the subgenre that will fall into this section: 1. Dystopian fiction - A very popular genre now-a-days, they narrate the stories of teens that challenge the oppressive social norms in order to build a better world. 2. Apocalyptic / Post-apocalytic fiction - These are stories that deal with the end of the world as we know it because of some sort of catastophy and the characters have to face with the aftermath. 3. Biopunk fiction - These stories revolve around genetic engineering in a near future, post-industrial dystopian society where government uses teachnology to retain their power. 4. Steampunk fiction - Stories that are set on the time where society relied on steam power but there is a presence of advanced technology that did not exist at the time. If you like Divergent, The Hunger Games, and The Giver you will probably like the other titles we have available in the Science fiction genre. This semester we are adding Star Wars: The Force Awakens to the Science fiction section of our collection. Some of the titles we have that fall into this genre: This genre encompasses stories in which characters go through real-life situations. Many explore themes of identity, coming of age, relationships and love. The stories might have some love story elements but they are not the focus on the story. Here we also include novels from the Realism and Naturalism literary movements. The subgenre that will fall into this section are: 1. Coming of age fiction (Bildungsroman) - Stories about teens facing a situation that takes them through a journey that will help them mature. Most of the time the protragonist goes through a painful experience that takes way his/her innocence. Innocence is then replaced by a realistic perspective. 2. School stories - These are YA fcition that revolve around a school setting and the plot is related to situation that happen in school, and involve classmates. 3. Psychological fiction - Stories that fall under this subgenre focus on the thoughts and emotions the character is feeling, rather then focusing on what is actually happening (action). The focus is on how the character percevices the events and people surrounding him/her. 4. Travelogue fiction - Stories that focus on the protagonist's travels falls into this subgenre. 5. Tragedy - Stories with a tragic ending that are based on real-life situations fall into this subgenre.
